Chinese Pork Dumpling Recipe: How to Steam Cook Pork Dumplings

Chinese food is also gaining popularity at parties these days and you sure can have a few dumplings for your bridal shower or your wedding brunch as well. Pork dumplings for instance, is one recipe you can offer your guests. Aside from being filling, it is also bite-size, and thus easy to eat. Here’s our authentic chinese pork dumpling recipe. Your wedding brunch guests will be delighted with them.

Makes 100 dumplings
  • 100 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers
  • 1 3/4 pounds ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
  • 5 cups finely shredded Chinese cabbage
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil

 How to prepare:

1. In a large bowl, combine the pork, ginger, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg and Chinese cabbage. Stir until well mixed.

2. To start wrapping the dumplings, place 1 heaped teaspoon of pork filling onto each wonton skin. Moisten edges with water and fold edges over to form a triangle shape. Roll edges slightly to seal in filling. Set dumplings aside on a lightly floured surface until ready to cook.

3. So how long to steam pork dumplings? To cook the dumplings, steam them in a covered bamboo or metal steamer for about 15 to 20 minutes.

4. Serve immediately with sweet and sour sauce or chili sauce.
